Le Migou Bell Tower Destroyed After Arson

The building of the City Hall of Limoges suffered significant damage after a fire broke out as a result of violence during protests against the rising cost of living in France. Demonstrators broke windows, set fire to the ground floor, and burned cars outside the building. The fire led to the collapse of the historic Bell Tower, which is classified as a cultural heritage site, and caused extensive damage to the building's exterior. The governor described the situation as a "heritage catastrophe" and characterized it as deliberate vandalism by troublemakers. The events triggered broader violence, including the arson of vehicles and the looting of shops, with indications of intentional sabotage, as the security situation in the city deteriorated. Meanwhile, the government vowed to reject threats and respond to the escalation.
