Macron denies Interior Minister resignation

French President Emmanuel Macron acknowledged failures in intelligence gathering and proactive measures during the violent events that took place in France over the weekend. These events included protests that led to the looting of shops and riots in several cities, particularly Paris, Marseille, and Lille. He rejected the resignation of Interior Minister Laurent Nunez and asked him to develop new operational methods to quickly confront the vandals. The authorities committed to providing protection for legitimate businesses and taking legal action against the rioters. The events on Saturday resulted in the arrest of approximately 2,400 people and about a thousand security personnel were injured, with around 30,000 individuals participating in looting in Marseille alone.
