Litani Authority Stops Zarqa Spring Water Transfer

The National Authority for the Litani River announced the suspension of water transfer from the Zgharta Spring in Western Bekaa to the Qasmiyeh and Ras Al-Ain irrigation projects. Instead, the water is now being used for hydroelectric power generation. This change comes at the start of the rainy season, aiming to better manage water resources and balance agricultural use with electricity production. Water supplies to the project will be limited to springs located downstream of the El Qaraoun Dam. Farmers are urged to conserve water and organize their irrigation practices to ensure the optimal utilization of available resources. This decision is part of seasonal water resource management efforts to boost energy production and conserve water under current conditions.
