UN: 250,000 Displaced in Yemen

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced that over 250,000 people have been displaced within Yemen since the resumption of hostilities last August, following the escalation of the conflict between the Saudi-backed government and the Houthis. The agency's spokesperson explained that Taiz Governorate is the primary source of displacement, accounting for 76% of cases and hosting 52% of the newly displaced individuals. Access to the affected areas remains difficult due to obstacles in relief efforts and movement, particularly from Khuraz Camp in Lahj, which shelters around 10,000 people. Additionally, the UN confirmed that more than 65,000 refugees and asylum seekers, most of whom are from Somalia and Ethiopia, are still in Yemen and are among the most affected by the renewed conflict.
