Regional Diplomacy in Flux

The article discussed the recent diplomatic visits to Lebanon and their potential impact on the regional scene, especially amid rising fears of Lebanon falling into another war. Reliable sources indicated that the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister asked Hezbollah not to engage in a potential conflict against Iran, in order to prevent Israel from delivering a decisive strike that would give Netanyahu an easy victory, whether before or after the elections. Additionally, the Qatari Prime Minister’s visit revealed that the region is on the verge of a sensitive phase of escalation or settlement, with Qatar reaffirming its support for strengthening Lebanon’s internal position, particularly regarding electricity issues, despite the economic challenges and international and regional disagreements that hinder aid. On the security front, the Lebanese government has taken extensive security measures to fill the vacuum left by the end of the UNIFIL mission, amid an Israeli stance rejecting European forces’ involvement in this matter, as tensions escalate ahead of the upcoming southern negotiations in Tampa.
