US sanctions target Iran shipping network

The U.S. Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on Wednesday on Karnakis & Karnakis Law Offices in Greece and Panama, for their support over the years for the Iranian regime's operations in transporting oil and petrochemicals. The measures included calls for investigations into European banks, including a Greek bank, regarding their connections with Iranian entities under sanctions. The U.S. Treasury Secretary confirmed that these sanctions target those contributing to the evasion of Iranian sanctions, particularly through the establishment of shell companies and fronts used to export Iranian oil to the Quds Force and the Houthis, with the aim of economically isolating the Iranian regime and preventing its use of funds to finance hostile activities.
