Pharmaceuticals focus on ketamine drugs

Pharmaceutical companies are currently racing to develop treatments based on ketamine, which has emerged as an effective option for treating depression and mental disorders. These companies aim to create new formulations such as pills and sprays to capitalize on a market estimated at around $750 million, with projections indicating that sales of Johnson & Johnson's "Spravato" could reach $2.3 billion by 2026. Despite the commercial success, experts are concerned about safety risks and believe that using the drug without specialized psychotherapy sessions may reduce its effectiveness. There is also worry about rising costs and the need to prove safety and efficacy before widespread marketing.
