Pitso Mosimane will return to lead the South African national football team after reaching an agreement with the country's football association, replacing coach Hugo Broos, who resigned following the team's exit from the 2026 World Cup. Mosimane is 62 years old and has a successful record in coaching African clubs, having won three CAF Champions League titles with Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly of Egypt. He previously managed the South African national team after the 2010 World Cup but failed to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations due to a tactical mistake. Mosimane's first matches as head of the national team will be in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea next month. He is considered one of the most prominent coaches in Africa.
