Green Informatics earns first Olympic silver

The Saudi Informatics Team won three international awards at the International Olympiad in Informatics "IOI 2026" held in Uzbekistan. Student Mohamed Nasser Al-Asmari received a silver medal, marking the first silver medal for Saudi Arabia in the history of participation in this Olympiad since its inception in 1989. Sultan Abdul Rahman Al-Eiban was awarded a bronze medal, and Saad Al-Aryfi received a Certificate of Appreciation. Four Saudi high school students participated in the competition, having qualified through the "Mouhiba" Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and sponsored by Tatweer Education Holding. This brings Saudi Arabia's total international medals in the Olympiad to 14, including one silver, eight bronzes, and five certificates of appreciation. The Olympiad is considered one of the most prestigious global competitions in computer science, testing skills in problem analysis, algorithm design, programming, and solution testing.
