Hakim Ziyech has arrived in Brazil in preparation for joining Botafogo on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Wydad Casablanca. This deal is considered rare, as there have been few instances in Arab football of players transferring to Brazilian clubs. Among these are Algerian player Khaled Khroubi, who played in Brazil in 2002; Emirati player Abdullah Al Khamali, who joined Atlético Paranaense in 2008; and Yemeni player Ahmed Al Surouri, who has played for various clubs in Brazil since 2018. If the transfer is finalized, Ziyech will be among the few Arabs who have had professional experiences on Brazilian pitches, shedding light on the rarity of such cases and highlighting the history of Arab players in Brazil.
