Emirati Special Olympics to compete in Cairo

The UAE Special Olympics delegation is preparing to participate in the tenth edition of the Regional Games for Special Olympics in the Middle East and North Africa region, hosted by Cairo from September 17 to 23, 2026. The team includes 28 members, among them 15 athletes with intellectual and developmental challenges, competing in four sports: rhythmic gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, strength training, and equestrianism. This participation is part of efforts to broaden inclusion and strengthen regional activities, and it marks an important step towards qualifying for the World Games in Santiago in 2027. These games follow new organizational arrangements that will divide the competitions among several countries instead of hosting everything in a single city every four years.
