Shnashil urges no change in coach for Mesopotamian Lions
Riad Shneeshil, former Iraqi football star, is calling for the sacking of Australian coach Graham Arnold after the Iraqi national team was eliminated early from the 27th Gulf Cup. Shneeshil emphasized the importance of technical stability for the team and stressed the need to give the coach time to build a cohesive squad, believing that frequent changes of coaches contribute to the decline of Iraqi football. He pointed out that Arnold's contract extends until the end of the Asian Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia, and he advocated for keeping him until then. He also urged evaluating the performance of the new Iraqi Football Association after the completion of its leadership cycle until 2030, considering that reforming Iraqi football requires a strategic project and long-term plans.
