Liao takes Ronaldo's number under Article 37

The article questioned why the Portuguese national team winger Raphinha wore the number 7 shirt, closely associated with Cristiano Ronaldo, during Portugal's match against Denmark in the Nations League after Ronaldo's departure from the national team camp. It explained that the regulations stipulate that jersey number changes among players are governed by Article 37 of the tournament regulations, which specify that numbers are assigned from 1 to 23. This resulted in the number 7 being assigned to Raphinha after Ronaldo's departure, a number he has worn since 2008 and which has been linked to his name throughout his career. Ronaldo's exclusive association with this number remains a significant symbol, and its change came as a reaction to his being benched and his sudden departure from the camp, despite efforts by the coaches and management to convince him to stay.
