Qatar in race for 2036 Olympics

Seven countries are competing to host the 2036 Summer Olympic Games: Qatar, Germany, India, Hungary, Turkey, South Africa, and South Korea. The preferred host city will be announced after the dialogue phase concludes in 2028. Qatar, which previously applied to host the 2016 Olympics, aims to become the first Arab country to host the Games, while India is seeking to host for the first time. The new candidate countries also include Munich, which hosted the 1972 Olympics, and South Africa, hoping to become the first African nation to organize the Games, following its experience hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Final applications will be reviewed before the October 31 deadline, with changes to the nomination process involving strategic dialogue stages and greater member involvement. It is expected that more than one host city will be selected. Los Angeles is scheduled to host the 2028 Games, and Brisbane in 2032.
