Ceferin Aims for Fourth UEFA Term

Slovenian Alexander Ceferin announced his intention to run for a fourth term as President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), after informing the national federation presidents during a meeting in Berlin. This comes amid controversial reforms to the UEFA system that were introduced in 2024 and approved by vote despite opposition from the English Football Association, which allowed Ceferin to run in the election despite potentially having announced his retirement earlier. The election is expected to take place next year, with Ceferin aiming to remain in office until 2031 to strengthen UEFA's stability. Meanwhile, the rivalry for the FIFA presidency heats up between Infantino and new contenders, with expectations of campaign launches from European Union candidates before the November 2026 deadline.
