Turkey confirms Montella exit, Turan steps in
The Turkish Football Federation announced the termination of Italian coach Vincenzo Montella's contract following the poor results achieved by the national team during the recent international break. Turkey lost four matches in the UEFA Nations League, including two against Italy, in addition to defeats to France and Belgium. Montella took charge in September 2023, leading Turkey to Euro 2024 and reaching the quarter-finals for the first time since 2000. He also contributed to their return to the World Cup after a hiatus, though their campaign ended prematurely in the group stage. It is worth noting that Ozan Tufan's name is considered one of the top candidates to succeed him as head coach.
