CAF reconsiders African Cup system

Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), spoke about his decision to reconsider the organization of the African Cup of Nations every four years, confirming that the union is currently exploring the possibility of restoring the biennial format, without having received instructions from FIFA or UEFA. He previously announced in December that the tournament would shift to a four-year cycle starting from 2028, which sparked dissatisfaction among some parties, especially during the current edition in Morocco. Motsepe emphasized that protecting and promoting African interests is his top priority, and that a final decision will be made based on what is best for African football. He also reaffirmed that the next edition will take place as scheduled next year in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, despite some delays and calls to change the location.
