Manchester City and EPL secret talks

Bloomberg has revealed that Manchester City conducted secret negotiations with the English Football League aimed at reaching a financial settlement to avoid sporting sanctions. It was expected that the club would pay a substantial sum to have the investigations canceled and the charges against them dropped. However, the negotiations collapsed before the independent committee's decision on September 29, 2026, which found the club guilty of serious violations of financial regulations, including inflating its revenues and reducing its expenses by over a billion dollars through the use of fake sponsorship contracts. Despite the conviction, Manchester City continues to appeal the decision and affirms that it possesses strong evidence proving its innocence. The final outcome now depends on the ruling of the independent legal body.
