Neftchi: Uzbekistan’s football rival
Neftchi Fergana, the Uzbek football team competing against Al Nassr in the AFC Champions League, has a history that spans 64 years since its founding in 1962, making it one of the most prominent clubs in Uzbekistan. Neftchi has won six national league titles, along with two Uzbek Cup trophies and a Super Cup. With a rich sporting history, the club achieved four consecutive league titles between 1992 and 1995, and secured its sixth championship in 2025 after a 24-year absence. At the continental level, Neftchi finished third in the AFC Champions League during the 1994-1995 season and reached the final of the CIS Cup in 1994, reflecting its presence beyond Uzbekistan. The team hosts the match at the Independence Stadium in Fergana and aims to make up for its loss in the first round of the tournament against Iraq's Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, while Al Nassr is looking to recover from their defeat by Al-Ain of the United Arab Emirates.
