Bahrain's Al-Ittihad signs ex-Asian champ

The Bahrain Football Association has officially contracted Spanish coach Felix Sanchez to lead the national first team, starting from next November. This comes after the previous coach, Dragan Talić, was dismissed following the team's exit from the Gulf Cup group stage with negative results. Sanchez brings extensive experience in leading continental and international teams, including guiding Qatar to win the Asian Cup in 2019, participating in the 2022 World Cup and Copa America, working with youth national teams, as well as coaching the Ecuador national team. He is expected to focus on preparing for the 2027 Asian Cup and the 2030 World Cup qualifiers. A press conference to announce his appointment will be held upon his arrival in Manama.
