French club Valenciennes has dismissed its coach, Pierre Blay, less than two weeks after leading the team to its biggest victory in history with a 13-0 win over Haparck in the French Cup. Despite this historic result, the team is struggling at the start of the league, sitting in 15th place with 8 points after 9 rounds, having lost 3 of their last 4 matches. Samuel Gouthals, one of the club's most prominent former players, has been appointed as interim coach following Blay's departure, who initially took over temporarily at the beginning of the season to ensure the team's stay in the third division.
