Iraqi Union Supports Coach Arnold

The Iraqi Football Association has renewed its confidence in Australian coach Graham Arnold to lead the national team, aiming to ensure optimal preparation for the upcoming 2027 Asian Cup finals scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia. The decision was made during an official meeting attended by the President of the Union, Younis Mahmoud, during which Arnold was granted full technical and administrative authority, despite calls from fans and the media for his dismissal following the team's exit from the group stage of the 2027 Gulf Cup. Arnold, who was contracted in May 2025, successfully led the Iraqi national team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup for the second time in its history, ending a 40-year absence. He is now preparing for matches against Tajikistan, Australia, and Singapore in the Asian Cup competition.
