Mourinho on N'Gogreira vs Calciopoli

Jose Mourinho strongly criticized the Spanish authorities' handling of the Negreira case, which involves payments exceeding 7 million euros from Barcelona to companies linked to José María Enríquez Negreira, the former vice president of the Spanish referees committee. He stated that ongoing investigations without firm action could turn this into "the biggest corruption scandal in the history of global refereeing," comparing the situation to the Calciopoli scandal in Italy that led to Juventus' relegation. Mourinho expressed his frustration over the Spanish authorities' lack of movement so far. His comments come more than three years after the case was uncovered, amidst calls from Real Madrid to accelerate investigations and identify those responsible. This situation reflects a politicization of the case and a neglect of widespread concerns about corruption, which some believe could be the largest in the history of refereeing.
