Al-Mutrefi discusses challenges and losses to Al-Riyadiyah

Saudi poet Owaid Mohammed Al-Mutrefi, who won first place in the House of Wisdom competition last year, expresses that the poetry scene is currently going through a difficult and unsatisfactory phase. He attributes this to increased criticism that causes conflicts among poets and diminishes the enjoyment of poetry. This has been especially noticeable with the decline of genuine Nabati poetry, influenced by social media's impact on how poems are written. Al-Mutrefi also mentions that the Maḥāwira (poetry debate) arena remains full of creativity, but the loss of prominent poets like Musaad Al-Rashidi and Al-Harbi Al-Harbi has negatively affected the Saudi poetic landscape. He confirms that he has stepped away from the scene for now due to personal reasons and aging.
