Meta prepares to begin manufacturing speed modules for AI models

Meta announced its plan to begin manufacturing its new artificial intelligence chip, called "Iris," starting next September. The move aims to enhance its independent computing capabilities and reduce reliance on chip suppliers like NVIDIA and AMD. Meta aims to increase its computing power to 14 gigawatts by 2027, with a plan to launch multiple generations of MTIA chips every six months until then, in order to support generative AI applications and expand its infrastructure.
