Chinese-Australian fabric combats summer heat

A joint research team from Chengshou University in China and the University of Adelaide in Australia has developed an innovative purple fabric with exceptional cooling properties. This fabric challenges the traditional notion that dark colors are associated with increased heat retention. It contains special components, including polyethylene fibers and nano-sized zinc oxide particles, allowing it to reflect approximately 87.6% of solar radiation and absorb infrared radiation up to 96.4%. Tests have shown that this fabric can reduce the surrounding temperature by up to 6.2 degrees Celsius compared to traditional purple cotton, and by 8 degrees Celsius when measuring the skin surface with a simulator. This makes it ideal for work and sportswear in hot environments, with the added benefit of maintaining its performance after 50 wash cycles and resisting the deterioration caused by ultraviolet rays.
