The UAE-based company Dub Dev Technology has unveiled a smart environmental feeding and monitoring unit for wildlife called "Mughdhi Al-Thaqeel Maghzalān." This system relies on artificial intelligence, computer vision, the Internet of Things, and solar energy to remotely manage feeding operations and monitor wildlife. The device processes over 15 million images annually captured by 24/7 cameras to accurately identify animal species, count them, and determine their presence times. The entire system was developed in the UAE and has achieved a confidence rate ranging from 80% to 97% in classifying multiple animal species, including the Arabian oryx, gazelles, and birds, under various weather and lighting conditions. It contributes precisely to feed distribution and reduces the need for human intervention, delivering over 50 tons of nutritional supplements during the year and being adopted in more than three countries, including the Mermoum Reserve in Dubai. Additionally, it offers a platform to monitor environmental indicators and issue alerts when stock is low or when sounds or vehicles are detected near reserves, enhancing natural resource management and the sustainability of the wild environment. This innovation reflects the UAE’s direction toward leveraging modern technologies and artificial intelligence to bolster the protection and sustainability of wildlife.
