A team of researchers successfully generated electricity using underwater solar panels located at a depth of 10 meters off the coast of China. They achieved this by improving solar energy capture techniques through solar cells made from perovskite material that absorb blue and green wavelengths of light, which penetrate deeper into the water. Experiments showed that these panels can produce continuous power for up to five and a half years when installed at a depth of 10 meters, with the capacity to generate more than 300 milliwatt-hours over two hours at that depth.
