UAE Debuts First Local Commercial Satellite

The United Arab Emirates has launched its first domestically manufactured commercial satellite, AlTair-1, which is part of a constellation consisting of 10 satellites. The goal is to develop a commercial Earth observation network powered by artificial intelligence. Once completed, the satellite will enable monitoring of ground locations approximately every four hours, with the capability to analyze data in real-time to assist in areas such as disaster management, environmental protection, national security, and supporting food security. This achievement reflects the advancement of the UAE's space sector and its transformation into a manufacturing hub for space technologies, as part of a strategic plan until 2031, supported by government initiatives and international partnerships to foster innovation and enhance national capabilities in the space industry.
