Mass Effect 5 Leak After Studio Closure

A leaked unofficial promotional trailer for the game Mass Effect 5, known as Mass Effect: Universe, revealed details about a project that BioWare was working on before its closure by Electronic Arts. The video footage featured a new character dressed in armor bearing the N7 logo, as well as the return of Liara T'Soni from the original installments, along with scenes of space combat and the use of Biotics powers. It was confirmed that the scenes used the game engine and materials from early development stages, indicating they were not representative of the final game. Neither the gameplay mode nor a specific release date were disclosed, but it appears that the game would have offered a new adventure combining new characters with familiar faces. Although the project exhibited an intriguing narrative and artistic direction, EA officially canceled its development after closing the BioWare studio. A derivative television series related to the franchise is still in production, and no plans have been announced currently to revive the project or launch a new game within the series.
