Ministry Explains Canned Water Shortage

The consumption of bottled water in Tunisia increased to four times the normal rates during July, due to a heatwave, power outages, and a shortage of tap water, which led to stock depletion and worsened the gap between production and consumption. Water bottling plants have resumed their normal production, and the ministry expects water supply to stabilize soon, urging citizens not to rush into excessive purchases. Additionally, inspection authorities seized over 700,000 liters of stock and uncovered violations related to price manipulation and hoarding. There are still 31 water bottling stations in operation.
