Algerian Football Federation names new coach

The Algerian Football Federation announced the appointment of local coach Ibrahim Hamdani to lead the national first team, succeeding Swiss coach Vladimir Petković, who left after the 2026 World Cup. The appointments were presented during the federation's meeting, where Antar Yahia was also appointed as assistant coach and Moussa Saïb as general manager, in addition to Hussein Arab as coach of the under-20 team. Hamdani, 48 years old and who previously led the Algerian under-21 team to win the Mediterranean Games gold medal, will begin his mission by coaching the national team in two matches against Zambia and Burundi in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on September 25 and 29.
