Tunisia's electricity output up 6%

Tunisia experienced a 6% increase in electricity production during the first seven months of 2026, reaching 12,333 gigawatt-hours compared to 11,632 gigawatt-hours in the same period last year. Renewable energy sources, particularly solar and wind power, contributed a 61% increase to the national energy mix, accounting for 9% by the end of July 2026, thanks to major independent production projects such as the Kairouan plant (100 MW) and the Sidi Bouzid and Tozeur plants (50 MW each).
