Tunisian Women Secure Top Prizes at Paris Calligraphy Contest

Tunisian calligraphers Salma Ben Ammar and Shaimaa Talib won first and second place, respectively, in the international Arabic calligraphy competition organized by the Grand Mosque of Paris in celebration of its centenary. More than 350 works from 32 countries competed in the event, with calligraphers of various nationalities participating across six main types of scripts, including Moroccan and Kufic scripts. The total prize fund amounted to 57,000 euros, with the two winners securing the first and second places in Moroccan and Kufic scripts, respectively. The aim was to promote Islamic art, preserve heritage, and encourage its development.
