Family support highlighted on Older Persons Day
On International Senior Citizens Day, Tunisia emphasized that the family is the natural and ideal environment for caring for the elderly, with support from the Ministry of Family, Women, Childhood, and Seniors for all initiatives aimed at enhancing their rights and well-being. This includes supporting caregiving within families, as well as developing home and institutional care services to ensure a decent life that preserves the independence and dignity of older adults. The focus is also on empowering them to actively participate in society and allowing generations to benefit from their experience. Tunisia continues to implement national, Arab, and international strategies to strengthen the protection of seniors' rights, reviewing legal frameworks to ensure empowerment and prevention, within the context of promoting active and inclusive aging.
