French Minister: 400+ Schools Shut Over Protests

The article concerns the wave of protests that took place in high schools across France, where Education Minister Édouard Geffray announced that over 400 educational institutions temporarily suspended their activities on Friday due to widespread protests. The main reasons behind the protests include the deterioration of class schedules, a shortage of teachers, the destruction of fire safety systems, as well as assaults on staff members. Riots and clashes with police led to the arrest of more than 1,000 students. The confrontations were concentrated in low-income areas, which are suffering from infrastructure decline and resource allocation discrimination. The government considered that the protests had escalated into acts of vandalism and that the crisis was intensifying and spreading to most major cities across France.
