September 2026 Economic and Market Report

September 2026 Economic and Market Report

In September 2026, the economic monitoring teams of the Ministry of Commerce and Export Development carried out approximately 50,758 inspection visits, resulting in the registration of 7,953 violations. Most of these violations were related to transaction transparency, pricing, monopolies, quality, and metrology, as part of their efforts to regulate markets and maintain balance in the supply of essential goods. The inspections encompassed various sectors, including agricultural products, fisheries, food items, bakeries, and restaurants. They also seized large quantities of subsidized products, such as grains (53 tons), vegetables and fruits (209 tons), meats and poultry (4,939 kg), and eggs (21,450 eggs), in addition to sugar and mineral water. Moreover, violations related to high prices and monopolistic practices were reported in the mineral water and school supplies sectors. Over 1,600 complaints were received through the toll-free hotline concerning illegal sales practices, alongside regional trade departments in Tunis, Ben Arous, and Ariana, which received a significant number of complaints regarding illegal market practices.
