Plainclothes officers to oversee traffic rules

The Traffic Police Department has begun experimenting with using patrols of plainclothes officers to monitor and document traffic violations through photography, with the aim of improving oversight, especially during peak hours and in areas lacking police presence in uniform. Major Sami Racheiko explained that the photos can be used as evidence when contesting violations, and that the patrols operate according to a weekly schedule to identify the most problematic spots. This includes areas in the capital and locations where repeated violations occur, such as the road connecting Ariana and Saker. This initiative is a transitional phase, during which photography is utilized before installing dedicated surveillance cameras for constant monitoring of violations.
