Fuel subsidies reach 2,427 million dinars in early 2026

The rise in global oil prices during the first half of 2026, when the barrel price reached approximately $92.6, contributed to an increase in fuel subsidy expenses in Tunisia, which amounted to 2,427 million dinars, exceeding investment expenditures by 762 million dinars. Additionally, subsidy expenses increased by 12% compared to the previous year, with a completion rate of 48.6%. Support was further reinforced by executing about 35.7% of the projections outlined in the Finance Law. The ministry attributed this increase to the activation of fuel subsidies in response to rising oil prices, alongside the government's ongoing efforts to implement development programs and gradually recover the economy despite delays in some developmental projects.
