Bnema hit by two quakes causing collapse and disaster

Two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 6.6 struck southern Panama, accompanied by a series of aftershocks, causing building collapses and evacuation warnings across the country. President José Raúl Muleño declared a "major disaster" and called for calm among residents. As of Friday evening, no fatalities or injuries had been officially reported, though multiple reports indicated some injuries and partial damage to infrastructure. Tsunami warnings were issued and subsequently canceled along several coastlines in the area. The most significant damage occurred in the Veraguas and Herrera provinces, with buildings damaged and cracks appearing in roads, while some facilities such as the airport and metro continued operating. The international community expressed support, closely monitoring the situation, and ongoing assessment efforts are underway to ensure safety.
