The Tunisian Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation recently launched a comprehensive reform of the scientific research system in Tunisia, aimed at enhancing the quality, transparency, and alignment of research outputs with national development priorities. More than 50 experts and officials from research and development institutions participated in workshops organized in the capital to discuss new evaluation standards that take into account the social and economic impact of research, not just academic indicators. This approach resulted in the adoption of a continually evolving methodology intended to improve researchers' performance, strengthen collaboration with economic institutions, consider the specificities of various disciplines, and support funding and facilitate researchers' participation in international conferences. These reforms are a significant step toward strengthening the independence of research institutions, developing a comprehensive evaluation system that encourages innovation and technological transfer, and contributing to sustainable development in Tunisia.
