Africa Champions: Surprise in Lubumbashi

The riot and chaos that took place at TP Mazembe's stadium in Lubumbashi on October 11, 2026, led Congolese authorities to close the stadium and suspend all sporting activities inside. This raises concerns about the venue for TP Mazembe's upcoming match against Club Africain, scheduled for next Saturday in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the CAF Champions League. The decision comes at a sensitive time, and official clarifications are expected to determine the fate of the match and the steps to be taken by the relevant authorities and CAF. Especially since any change in the venue could impact both teams' preparations for their continental encounters.
