Inauguration of Sidi Abdel Hamid desalination plant
Tunis will witness the official inauguration of the seawater desalination plant in Sidi Abdel Hamid, under the patronage of Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, Azeddine Ben Sheikh, this coming Friday, October 16. The plant became operational on September 28 and produces 50,000 cubic meters of desalinated water daily, with the potential to double its capacity. Its goal is to improve water supply to the governorates of Sousse, Monastir, and Mahdia, addressing shortages and outages during peak periods. This project aims to enhance water security and reduce reliance on traditional sources.
