The Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources has announced urgent measures to combat olive tree disease caused by the bacterium Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. savastanoi, following reported cases of infection in Melloush area in the Medenine governorate. Specialized technical teams have been formed to enhance containment and control efforts, prune affected plants, remove and dispose of infected wood, and conduct preventive treatments on all affected trees. The ministry’s goal is to reduce the spread of the disease and protect healthy olive groves through an exceptional intervention plan covering all olive-producing regions. Farmers are also encouraged to contact the relevant authorities for guidance and instructions.
