Tunisie Telegraph: No summer water cuts in 2027

Tunisie Telegraph: No summer water cuts in 2027

The seawater desalination plant in Sidi Abdel Hamid, Sousse, was inaugurated and has been in operation since September after approximately eight years of delay. The project was overseen by the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources. It cost around 130.5 million dinars and currently produces 50,000 cubic meters of water daily, sufficient to cover the water deficit in the coastal region, Sfax, and the Cap Bon area, with the possibility of expansion to 100,000 cubic meters. The National Water Distribution and Exploitation Company affirmed that the water is being pumped with good quality, meeting both local and international standards, and that water cuts in the area will only happen under exceptional circumstances.
