Tunisian woman recognized among top 100 women in agriculture

Amal Al-Makni, a Tunisian agricultural engineer from Béja Governorate, was selected as one of the 100 “Pioneering” Women in the fields of agricultural and food systems and rural development by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Her efforts in developing the farming sector and promoting rural development are widely recognized; she established a model farm for training on sustainable farming practices and supported over 100 interns and 30 rural women to empower them economically and socially. This initiative coincides with the International Year of Women Farmers and the World Food Day celebrations, held at the organization’s headquarters in Rome in late October 2026.
