Bizerte Faces Heavy Rains and Traffic Disruption
Bizerte, Rass El-Jebel, Menzel Bourguiba, Tinja, and Mateur cities experienced traffic chaos due to heavy rain that fell for a short period this afternoon, Tuesday, although no major accidents or fatalities were reported. The floods disrupted traffic flow, especially near markets and flood-prone neighborhoods, leading to hundreds of employees and students being stranded on the roads. Scenes of drowning were repeated in some areas, such as the slaughterhouse neighborhood in Mateur and Rass El-Jebel. To address the situation, the regional Red Crescent authority in Bizerte decided to activate the disaster emergency plan to prepare relief teams and assist those affected when needed, in coordination with local and regional authorities.
