Imported rice prices set at 3.9 and 6.9 dinars
The Ministry of Commerce and Export Development in Tunisia announced the setting of retail prices for imported rice starting from October 20, 2026. The official price for imported rice has been set at 3,900 millimes per kilogram for the general public, while Basmati rice is priced at 6,900 millimes per kilogram for consumers. All suppliers are required to submit their legal and technical documents to the central authorities before importation. This decision comes amid disruptions and shortages of basic commodities such as rice, sugar, and flour, which have led to public dissatisfaction due to the scarcity of these products in the market.
