UN Chief Warns of Global Impact of Conflicts
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, warned that the escalation and widening of international conflicts threaten to increase human suffering and deepen global inequalities. He emphasized that wars in regions such as the Middle East, Ukraine, and Sudan are causing ongoing attacks on vital infrastructure, leading to disruptions in energy markets and supply chains, which in turn exacerbate living costs and widen the gap between the poor and the rich. He called for a cessation of hostilities, respect for international law, and the opening of diplomatic pathways to reach peaceful solutions, with particular focus on the situations in Yemen and Gaza. He also urged support for humanitarian financing and commended Egypt for its key role in resolving Middle Eastern crises.
