Over 53,000 Chinese youths join yearly volunteer effort

The Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League announced that more than 53,000 recent university graduates will participate in an annual volunteer program aimed at serving less developed and rural areas in China. The volunteers will be dispatched to 27 regions, including Xinjiang, Jilin, Guizhou, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, working for a period of one to three years in fields such as education, development, healthcare, and local governance. The program focuses on strengthening services at the grassroots level, with more than 90% of the sites located in towns and villages. Since its launch in 2003, about 600,000 graduates have participated, with the goal of supporting development in rural areas and local communities.
